Worth knowing

  • SCOME Thailand's own stated mission, from its 24/25 committee minutes: to open opportunities for medical students throughout Thailand to participate in, exchange on and work together to develop and improve the medical education system.
  • The 24/25 committee set three explicit visions for the year: 'Train with Purpose' (TMSE, Class Surgery), 'Build Systems that Grow Together' (Capacity Building, Feedback Training), and 'Inspire through Real Stories' (MedEd Unplugged, PR campaign).
  • TMSE 2024 issued participation certificates to 50 participants and recorded 52 staff, with a staff structure spanning roughly 16 role types including Academic Activity, Event Runner, Registration and Evaluation, Location and Welfare, Recreational Activity, Capacity Building, PR, Graphic Design, Finance and Sponsorship, Secretary, MC and Photographer.
  • TMSE deliberately admits non-medical-students: military medical cadets and Grade 11–12 high-school students are eligible alongside medical students, as is the case for MedEd Unplugged staff and What's on your mind participants.
  • Study Buddies systematically contacted SCOMEs across five IFMSA regions, Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and South America. Tracking each NMO's response; Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Japan and Nepal confirmed, and Bangladesh is recorded as a participant in the January 2024 minutes.
  • A handover note from a previous project director describes a three-day online international event in which Thailand ran two main-activity sessions on day one and partner NMOs each ran one session on days two and three, with a post-event form that asked participants to describe each day's activity as an attendance check; the note records the whole project having been run by two people and recommends cutting future editions to two days with more academic content.
